Excellent drywall work . Mediocre woodwork (outdoor stair building and painting). We were assigned two different handymen for building outdoor stairs. Both sets of stairs were “finished”. But we had to complete the painting ourselves, despite that being part of the “definition of done”. We painted because sections were missed on the sides and back. One guy also painted a portion of our front tree next to the stairs (thankfully the tree didn’t die completely). The wood on one set of stairs is already cracking (less than 2 years since install). The other set of stairs wasn’t designed to align to the pathway that it was connecting to, so the handyman’s measurements and understanding of angles weren’t there. We won’t be hiring them again due to the stair work. It’s also overpriced for the work output compared to some of the other local handymen (we can get 400 sq ft tiled and grouted perfectly for the same cost as a set of 8 stair steps with no railing, poor angles, and an incomplete paint job. (We even supplied the paint). They charged $1,000 to fit a 2ft by 2ft piece of drywall in, spackle, and repaint it to match the color (without texturing). Recommendation: shop around. Or If you find a handyman here that you like, but you can’t get assigned the same handyman, and you like consistency, it might be best to look for a smaller shop or a single contractor so you can have a consistent experience.
